Hockey is one of the oldest team sports played in Fiji today, so it was a proud moment for Mindpearl when two of their employees, Alsace Smith and Richard Eyre were selected to be part of the Fijian National Hockey team. The National team took part in the 2015 Oceania Cup in New Zealand, playing hockey against the best in the world. The last time a Fijian team took part in the Oceania Cup was in 2005, when it was played in Fiji.

Mindpearl proudly sponsored travel costs and expenses. In the third/fourth play-off, Fiji scored 11 goals to secure bronze medals and consign Samoa to four defeats in the tournament. Sadly they failed to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Fiji Hockey Federation president Dr Robin Mitchell said, ‘While Fiji has not qualified, they put up a solid performances against Australia and New Zealand.’

William Pattison, Mindpearl’s CEO was in Fiji to great the proud bronze medallists on their return to work. “Alsace and Richard made us very proud; we were honoured to assist where we could to enable them to compete in New Zealand. We look forward to celebrating their future successes.’’
